Description
We explore the purpose of a union and its role in Canadian society. We hear firsthand accounts and learn about the Canadian workers’ event that took place in 1872 known as the “Nine Hour Movement”. Exploring the impact of activism on the emergence of the labour movement in Canada, we identify the key issues affecting the workforce (e.g., inflation, cost of living, technology) and analyze why they continue to be at the forefront of labour unrest.
